Welcome to Little Dippers!
Little Dippers is part of our Foundation Stage Unit which includes the Nursery children. The children learn and play alongside each other, creating a smooth transition from Nursery into the beginning of their school years.
Sophie Taylor is the Nursery Lead with Paula Cox and Sandra Cioffi, Nursery Assistants. The staff have a wealth of experience, passion and knowledge of the Early Years and work collaboratively to ensure that the most important foundations are laid to enable the children to move smoothly into their next stage of learning.
The Little Dippers are encouraged to learn through play and exploration, through being active, creative and thinking critically. The staff aim for the children to be inspired by their experiences; motivated by stimulating environments and equipment; fully engaged in their learning and, ultimately, to be empowered to continue to explore and learn themselves, independently. This is managed through carefully planned lessons and activities and opportunities for adult-led and adult- directed sessions as well as amble opportunity for child-initiated learning.
The Little Dippers have daily access to water and sand play, painting and other ‘messy’ activities. There is also access to a range of construction and investigative activities. Exploring and discovering supports their learning and development and they really enjoy it.
The children are provided with a variety of inspiring and stimulating learning spaces both inside and outside which develop all the fundamental aspects that are need to develop throughout the first school years. The children also partake in Forest School with our qualified Forest School Leaders in our amazing outdoor areas.
In Reception, the children are discreetly taught Phonics (using Letters and Sounds), reading, handwriting and mathematical skills. They are also encouraged to use enquiry and develop speaking, listening and social skills.
